In the Court of Kemet - pictures from around Luxor

Get it now in eBook or print from:
In 2008 Danielle S. LeBlanc traveled to Egypt to study Arabic and spent 4 months living in Cairo and traveling around Egypt, Syria, and Jordan. On her return, Danielle went on to complete a Masters in History with a focus on Middle Eastern history. Her travels and studies planted the seed for what would eventually grow into the Ancient Egyptian Romances series.

Book One of the series - In the Court of Kemet - is set in the city of Thinis, and is inspired by Queen Merneith, Egypt's first female ruler. Although the ancient city has yet to be found, it's believed to be about 3 hours' drive north of Luxor. The below photos are taken in and around Luxor. These sites were built after the novel takes place, but invoke some of the beauty of Ancient Egypt, and are worth a look!

Available now from:

Cooking and Baking with Gluten Free Beer is the latest cookbook from Poor and Gluten Free food blogger Danielle S. LeBlanc, with a foreword by gluten free home brewer Brian Kolodzinski.

Book Description:

Beer is a useful addition to gluten free fare. Beer helps baked goods rise, tenderizes meat, lends a deep flavour to vegan stews and gravies, and enriches chocolate-y desserts with its essence. Beer is also just plain fun to cook and bake with; it makes food better.

The recipes in Cooking and Baking with Gluten Free Beer enable you to enjoy beer round the clock, seven days a week, from breakfast through to dinner, dessert, and beyond. Whether you’re looking for traditional pub-fare, like bratwurst and sauerkraut, game day snacks like pretzels and cheddar dip, Sunday morning crepes and French toast, or entrées like steamed mussels and marinated chicken, there’s a little something for everyone. As a bonus, many of the recipes have vegetarian and vegan options.

Discover over 40 recipes and combinations such as:

* Muddled Meat Balls and their vegan counterpart, Tanked-Up Tofu Balls
* Rip-Roaring Rosemary Bread
* Plotzed Poor Man’s Pierogi
* Borracho Mexican Chocolate Cupcakes
* Off-Your-Face Apple Fritters

So why not crack open a six-pack and start cooking and baking with gluten free beer today?!

Danielle S. LeBlanc is the author of the allergy-free blog Poor and Gluten Free and two other cookbooks, Recipes for Unusual Gluten Free Pasta: Pierogis, Dumplings, Desserts and More! and Living with Oral Allergy Syndrome: A Gluten and Meat-Free Cookbook for Wheat, Soy, Nut, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Allergies.

A Single Girl's Guide to Greece

Available now for the following ereaders:

For Ava, a travel writer, the best way to get away from a bad relationship is to head to Greece. Two weeks into her trip, however, she finds herself broke and almost stranded in a beautiful, yet remote, seaside town. She has two options. She can pack up, admit defeat, and move back to her mother's. Or, she can stay in Greece, keep working, and risk having to panhandle for change at a dirty bus stop in the middle of nowhere.

Ava's seriously considering the bus stop.

When a handsome café worker tricks her into joining him for dinner, she has no idea she just might have found the answer to her problems.

Recipe for Baked Feta Cheese - from A Single Girl's Guide to Greece

This recipe is courtesy of Suzanne Bourgeois, a similar dish is mentioned in her novella, A Single Girl's Guide to Greece, available for the following ereaders:

In the story, Ava eats baked feta at a restaurant by the waterfront in Monemvasia the night she meets Costas's family. To see some of the images that inspired that scene, check out these pictures from Monemvasia.

Recipe for Baked Feta Cheese with Tomatoes (gluten free)

3/4 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1/4 cup pitted and chopped Kalmata olives (optional). I used canned, sliced olives in this photo for convenience
1 large canned artichoke heart, quartered (optional)
1/4 cup thinly sliced green pepper (optional)
1 tsp olive oil
1 tsp dried oregano
Pinch of ground black pepper
1-8 oz block feta

1 Tbsp fresh, chopped parsley

Lemon wedges (optional)

Directions

Preheat oven to 400F
Mix together tomatoes, olives, artichoke heart, pepper, olive oil, oregano, and black pepper.

Arrange feta in an oven safe dish (I used a clay baking dish for this photo shoot). Arrange tomato mix over top. Bake feta for 15 minutes. It will be softened, but not melted.

Garnish with fresh parsley and lemon wedges. Serve with crackers, tortillas, or bread. Leftovers can be refrigerated.

* Feta will get hard again when chilled. It can be reheated in the microwave or oven to soften.

Enjoy!

For Ava, a travel writer, the best way to get away from a bad relationship is to head to Greece to hike medieval strongholds and tour the countryside. Two weeks later, however, she finds herself broke and stranded in a beautiful, yet remote, seaside town.
